Is a VW T-Roc a reliable car? ›

Is a used Volkswagen T-Roc hatchback reliable? The T-Roc finished 14th out of 22 cars in the small SUV class in our most recent reliability survey. It achieved this placing with a reasonable overall score of 95%. This placed it above the Seat Arona and the Skoda Kamiq but below the Audi Q2 and the Mini Countryman.

Considering VW ruled out selling the current T-Roc in the U.S., it's likely the new generation will also skip this market. Instead, the automaker offers the bigger Taos as its entry-level crossover here. The new T-Roc looks like it will follow an evolutionary design path.

The new Volkswagen T-Roc is in the final stages of development ahead of its launch as the last pure-ICE car from the German firm, new spy shots have revealed. Set for launch in 2026, the second-generation T-Roc has been given a front end similar to the new Tiguan, with a redesigned grille and refreshed LED headlights.

The main difference between the T-Roc and VW Tiguan is size – while the T-Roc is a small SUV, the Tiguan is a larger family SUV. Is the VW T-Roc bigger than the Nissan Qashqai? No.

On top of that the rear seats aren't bad and the space is quite good but a little tight for the oversized folk. If you are a hight of 170cm this is a good car for camping and sleeping in the back. Any taller it might be a cramp. If you are 180cm tall this vehicle can easily have you.

Is the T-Roc a good family car? ›

Sure, the T-Roc is getting on a bit by this point, but it's a dependable, reliable package that won't let you down. As a family crossover that'll likely be used for ferrying the kids to school, the weekly supermarket run, and perhaps the odd trip away, it'll do most folk just fine.

Whereas the VW T-Roc is bigger than the T-Cross, offering a bit more space and versatility. Dimensions for the VW T-Roc are 1599 mm height, 1819 mm width and 4251 mm in length. Although it offers a similar height profile to the T Cross, its longer length delivers extra interior room.

Our test showed that the trunk will fit two large suitcases with dimensions of 77/50/29 cm, a cabin suitcase, a large cosmetic bag and a lot of holiday gadgets, such as: a screen, umbrella, beach mats, a ball and others. And it all fits under a rigid shelf.

Most VW models maintain an average reliability rating, though some suffer from more recalls and issues than others. Though Volkswagens may cost less than an Audi to repair, sometimes the trade-off includes lesser-quality components.

The 150hp 1.5 TSI is a better bet. It serves up considerably punchier performance than the 1.0-litre, and it's exceptionally smooth and quiet. It's not really any less efficient in the real world, either, thanks to a clever 'two-cylinder mode' which shuts down half the engine when only a little power is needed.
